A surfer riding a blue wave

The wave started as an image.

In an internal blog at Sopra Steria, I compared the arrival of AI to the enormous wave in Interstellar. How do we prepare to navigate it? The question stayed with me, and eventually I wanted to build my own surfboard.

First the frame. Then the mail.

A campaign gave my goals and open threads a frame. Mail was the natural first building block: invoices, appointments and many obligations arrive here, then disappear into separate places.

The computer is already here.

My MacBook supplies the computing power. The engineering is in connecting local models, knowledge and tools: what may proceed automatically, where is evidence required, and where is my decision needed?

Connections instead of more lists.

The inbox led to appointments, contracts and evidence. Ledger connects bank statements to an understandable overview; Memory keeps confirmed knowledge connected to its sources. Mail remains the starting point.

Collaboration needs boundaries too.

In a week-long experiment, I moved my cross-project working sessions between AI assistants. It showed the value of a written plan, bounded tasks and verifiable handoffs.

I want to show what proves useful, and keep the mistakes visible too. The board takes shape through use.
